When you begin planning a special event, choosing the perfect venue will most likely be at the top of your list. One convenient type of venue to consider is a private dining lounge in your favorite local restaurant.

Hosting an event in a private dining room as opposed to other types of venues has many advantages. If you're on a tight party-planning budget, a restaurant venue may save you money overall, especially if it offers special package rates.

A private dining room in a restaurant is the ideal setting for almost any type of event or special occasion, including birthday celebrations, holiday parties with friends, loved ones or co-workers, anniversary and graduation soirees, bridal and baby showers, and even small wedding receptions.

Unless the restaurant is exceptionally large, private dining room venues typically provide intimate settings for smaller groups. Book the space as far as possible if your event is during a busy time of year, such as the summer wedding season or the winter holiday season.

Here are some additional benefits of holding a special event in a private dining venue:

1. Onsite Menu Options

The biggest advantage a private dining venue has to offer is its onsite menu options. You won't have the need to hire an outside catering service like you would in most other venue types. Work directly with the chef or the event staff to create the perfect lunch, dinner, or snacks for your celebration.

In some cases, using the restaurant's prix fixe menu option may be easier on your pocketbook than allowing guests to order their own individual meals off of the eatery's regular menu. Be sure to take any of the guests' dietary restrictions into consideration when planning a fixed menu.

When you book the venue, inquire as to whether the restaurant will provide dessert or not. In some cases, you may have to order a specialty item, such as a birthday or wedding cake, from an outside bakery.

2. Audio/Visual Equipment

If the restaurant is a popular event spot, it may have basic audio/visual equipment on hand if you need it for presenting picture slideshows or presentations. This will save you the hassle of renting it from another source.

3. Well-Appointed Space

Many restaurants' private dining rooms are already elegant looking and well-appointed with table linens and candles, so you won't have to worry about decor. If you want to personalize the space, bring in your own table centerpieces and vases of fresh flowers. Balloon bouquets also make easy, eye-catching decorations, and are easy to transport to and from the venue.
